Expansive week ahead for Urban Sole shoe salon
As indicated by the sign in the window at 74 S La Grange Rd, footwear salon Urban Sole is moving into that space next door, vacated recently by Licorice Boutique.
The move begins Sunday evening when the interior wall separating the two storefronts will be torn out almost entirely, doubling the size of Urban Sole's downtown showroom, says owner Mary Kral who, along with partner Honor Lorenzini, opened the shop in Aug. 2004.
The new expanse will be retrofitted and stocked with lines of clothing and accessories intended to complement the salon's eclectic assortment of shoes, boots and comfortable footwear.
A grand opening of the enlarged store is scheduled for the following Saturday, Oct. 14, says Kral. The shoe room will remain open throughout construction.
"We'll have clothes to match our shoes," she says. "Casual stuff, some things a little dressier. A lot of denim, a lot of sweaters and knit tops. A lot of clothes to fit the lifestyle of a modern woman, age 20 to 60. Whether you are a working mom or a stay at home mom, whether you have a date on Friday or whether you are going to a cocktail party, we like to have the right stuff to fit all those needs in a woman's life."
Urban Sole has a second location in Hinsdale, which opened in Sept. 2005. It will continue to sell only footwear due to space restrictions, says Kral, "unless something opens up."
