Pedestrians who access Sedgwick Park from the south side of 47th St will find that the sidewalk now extends into the park itself.
A contractor hired by the Park District of La Grange Oct. 5 installed a concrete parkway that connects with the park's network of gravel paths and also provides direct access to the park's tennis courts.
With a budget of $7400 for the job, PDLG Executive Director Dean Bissias said he initially intended to make the walkway from asphalt but was delighted to discover a contractor willing to pour concrete for the same price.
The new walkway replaces a gravel pathway that frequently was washed out by water runoff, Bissias said.
